Manufacturing Process
- Steel shafts undergo induction hardening before or after machining
- High-frequency electromagnetic heating of the surface layer
- Rapid quenching to create a deep hardened case on the shaft surface
- Hard chrome plating applied for corrosion resistance and smooth finish
Key Properties
- Surface hardness typically ~55–65 HRC (or higher depending on material & process)
- Hardened case depth approximately 0.5–1.5 mm beneath the chrome layer
- Tough core for better resistance to impact loads and fatigue
- High dimensional stability for precision linear motion systems
